Camper Riding Assessment & Group Placement Information
Our goal is to provide all campers with a safe, fun, and developmentally appropriate riding experience. To help us achieve this, we strive to accurately assess each camper’s riding ability in advance, allowing us to create well-balanced groups of similar skill levels.
If your child is registering with friends of differing abilities but would like to ride together, please select the ability level of the least experienced rider. Nothing is set in stone—we always ensure that each camper is placed in the most appropriate group as we how everyone is riding together.
How We Assess Rider Ability
Please review the following guide to help determine your camper’s riding level. If you are uncertain about your rider’s ability or have questions, we encourage you to contact us before registering.
IMPORTANT:
Campers must already know how to ride a bike before joining our programs.
Novice riders do not need prior mountain biking experience, but they must be able to start, stop, turn, and ride in control for at least 3 miles. If your child has just learned to ride or is still working on the basics, they are not quite ready for these rides.
We do offer private and small group instruction for riders of all ages to build confidence, skill, and control. Please reach out if you would like help determining your child’s readiness.
